2007 HIGHLIGHTS
 

Over 400 attended the Annual Banquet with speaker Jim Kennedy, Kennedy, Coulter, Rushing & Watson, a strategic planning firm.

Coordinated 33 ribbon cuttings and 4 ground breakings.

Held Town Hall meetings with Congressman Phil Gingrey and Congressman Nathan Deal.

Co-sponsored More Than a Taste of Calhoun with Main Street Partnership.

Co-sponsored the Battle of Resaca Reenactment.


June’s Booster Breakfast sponsored by Prater Ford-Mercury

Graduated 26 in twentieth Leadership Class. Over 500 graduates to date.

Supported Youth Leadership Program.

Co-sponsored Concerts in Calhoun City Park with Main Street Partnership.

Sponsored three small business seminars on marketing, technology, and Federal contracts and grants.

Sponsored a successful “Meet the Candidates” Political Forum.

Held Member Appreciation Week by delivering notepads to Chamber members.

Co-sponsored Star Spangled 4th of July Celebration.

Participated in Northwest Georgia Regional Fair business exhibits.

Participated in Georgia Department of Labor business exhibits.

Held Cook-out on the Corner for new and prospective Chamber members.

Promoted Antique Engine & Tractor Show.

Held Business Expo 2007 with record number of exhibitors.

Recognized as a statewide finalist for the 2006 Governor’s Georgia Red Ribbon Award.

Continued successful Drugs Don’t Work program through seminars and Red Ribbon Week programs.

Provided 12,000 drug awareness wrist bracelets to every student in Gordon County during National Red Ribbon Week.

State Capitol, February 21

Provided Drugs Don’t Work members with monthly newsletter.

Held Board of Directors Planning Retreat at Calhoun Convention Center.

Sponsored Holiday Open House, Moonlight Madness, and Christmas Giveaway 2007.

Sponsored the Historic Fairmount Town Square Christmas Ornament.

Continued Gift Certificate program through CertifiChecks.


Cook Out on the Corner for new Chamber members, September 28

Co-sponsored the Christmas Parade of Lights with Main Street Partnership and
the Northwest Georgia Regional Fair.

Supported arts and recreation through the CVB Committee.

Advertised extensively through widely-read publications and I-75 billboard.

Coordinated bi-monthly publication of Right Here in Gordon County.

Participated in travel shows.

Developed tourism web site for Convention & Visitors Bureau -www.ExploreGordonCounty.com.

Supported Main Street Partnership projects.

Provided Manufacturers’ Directory and State Wage Benefit Survey to industries.

Worked with Development Authority, City and County Governments to attract new industries and to support and retain existing ones.

Continued Volunteer Hostess Program.

Held six Booster Breakfasts and four Business After Hours.

Published monthly newsletter.

Maintained Job Bank module on web site.

Continued Small Business Insurance Program through Purchasing Alliance Solutions.

Began work on Governor’s “Entrepreneur Friendly” community designation.

Created display for museum at Georgia Welcome Center in Ringgold.

Co-sponsored the Festival of Trees at the Harris Arts Center.

Participated in MACTEC public hearings for Gordon County’s long range plans.

Financially sound at the end of 2007.
